Meet Mary Helen Bowers
A professional ballerina by training, Mary Helen danced with New York City Ballet for 10 years before graduating from Columbia University and founding Ballet Beautiful. She personally trained Natalie Portman for her Academy Award winning role in Black Swan along with countless other A-list celebrities, supermodels & millions around the world, delivering authentic, results-driven ballet-inspired training.

“I’ve been training with Ballet Beautiful since 2010 (back when I was only 14 years old – crazy! and I have truly enjoyed every single minute of it! A lot of the videos I first started with (the Butt Series videos, Swan Arms Classic, Intro to Ballet Beautiful Cardio) are still in my workout rotation as the Custom Workout program has been developed and expanded over the years. The results you see from the huge library of videos are incredible – I usually notice some subtle differences and definition in my body and stamina levels in as little as two weeks, sometimes even less, so you know your time isn’t wasted with these! Plus, there is an amazing selection of videos to rotate through and try, from more focused and challenging videos to some fun dance-y ones that I like to do when my motivation is low but I still want to get some movement in. Even if you only have 5 minutes to spare, there are some incredible videos that fit within that time frame that absolutely make sure you make the most of that time – you’ll definitely feel like you got a workout in after completing one of those! In the vast workout world of Pilates, yoga, etc., Ballet Beautiful has been the only program I’ve been able to maintain throughout the years and into my adulthood. I’ve always considered it the most glamorous part of my day, and it is such a gift to be able to see what I am capable of by completing another challenging set or rep of exercises with it. “The custom workout subscription is pricey but worth-it for me. As a mobile dog groomer I spend most of my days on my feet and working with my hands. My body is so sore at the end of the day. Ballet Beautiful has been a godsend for me. I particularly love the restorative series, the mat videos, and the back stretching videos. It is my little ritual at the tail end of my day. The subscription is cheaper than physical therapy and I find Mary Helen’s voice so soothing. I particularly love that I can do these workouts in the comfort of my home, in my pajamas, with my pets surrounding me. :)”

I became an online subscriber around 2015 and have repeatedly come back to Ballet Beautiful (even if i stray and try other workouts) as other workouts lack that meditative and peaceful feeling. The results speak for themselves. Low impact and great for those with chronic illness. I love working out at home on the mat.

“BB is the only workout that I’ve been doing consistently for the last few years, and I have never looked better. I like it because it targets all the right muscles, so it really makes you look slim and toned, like a dancer. Someone even asked me if I was a dancer, because my posture is so good now! “In 2016, I came across a YouTube video of Mary Helen’s Swan Arms workout. At that time, I had been struggling with body image and been reluctant to go to the gym for many years. I had no dance or ballet experience whatsoever, but I tried Mary Helen’s workout and it swept me off my feet. I bought the Custom Workout subscription that same month and I’ve been a subscriber ever since!
For the first time I was in love with physical activity. I love how challenging and yet graceful and elegant the exercises are. The accompaniment of classical music and Mary Helen’s soft, calm voice are also very different from the usual disco music and loud cries I always associated with working out at the gym.
Throughout the years, my body underwent a complete transformation. I got leaner, stronger, and above all else, more confident in my own body than I had ever been. I always blush when strangers ask me if I’m a ballerina – me, who had never set foot in a dance studio!
My adventure with BB started when I was a university student in Poland and continued during the years I lived in Argentina. “I have been doing ballet beautiful Since2012!!!! The abs and arms it made me, no Hiit, no planks have ever created the same strong flat stomach. My arms are sleek and defined with lots of swan arms.

There is of course a basic technique that we repeat over and over but each workout has its own charm, and they are so many of them !
The workouts are hard and sometimes very hard, but MH shows them in such an effortless way that one can only feel inspired to follow. Very special mention, is the meditative feeling of doing such a hard work at the tempo of lovely classic music.

“I discovered Ballet Beautiful about 8 years ago, and it’s the only workout I do now. I’ve been active all my life, and I’m 63. I love how gente these workouts are on your joints. They are so much fun to do, it’s more like a treat to myself! Mary Helen, and the other trainers explain everything very clearly, and give tips, reminders and modifications as you go through the workout. You can do them anywhere, and don’t need any special equipment. I also enjoy the large variety of workouts there are to choose from!

“I’ve been doing Ballet Beautiful workouts for over 10 years and there is nothing better. The monthly subscription is an amazing value—it gives you access to hundreds of videos that you can mix and match to target every part of your body in the exact way that works for you. As a former fitness editor I have tried every workout under the sun (HIIT, Pilates, barre, running, heavy weights, dance cardio, yoga, spinning, trendy online workouts, etc) and BB is in a category all its own. The results speak for themselves. BB sculpts muscles in a way no other workout does, plus I have better posture and stand taller when I am consistent with my workouts. I’ve said this for years: Nothing will give you a perkier butt than Ballet Beautiful! But the main reason why I will never stop doing BB is because of the way it tones your body without torture. Trust me, the workouts are tough and you will be sore, but the videos are pleasant and calm, and you’re not beating your body into submission with punishing workouts. I couldn’t stand doing one more high intensity workout that I dreaded and that left me feeling exhausted and drained. I have also had several injuries over the years (unrelated to BB) and I’ve been able to do BB the entire time during my recoveries, because the movements are so thoughtful and nurturing for the body that they often mimic physical therapy exercises. Also, I have an extremely busy schedule and the videos are all different lengths, which means sometimes in between phone calls I can throw on a 10 minute video and it instantly energizes me and puts me in a better mood. Stop doing workouts that feel like torture. It doesn’t have to be that way! If you are on the fence about trying Ballet Beautiful, you just need to go for it. Ditch your expensive gym and do this from the comfort of your home. You will love it!”

“I love the custom workout, it really helps achieve not only the shape of a ballerina but also the “attitude” of a ballerina which is the most important. BB has pre-built playlists and monthly challenges. I love the seasonal aspect of the challenges, during autumn we have Supermodel training to go with the fashion week, in november-december we have Nutcracker experiences to feel the holidays vibes. Every month there is an addition of 2 videos and sometimes one tutorial to achieve perfect form plus a great full-lenght dvd in the streaming library. We can mix and match videos in the training. The livestream library is also very abundant, and I think it gives a bond with master trainers who also train from the comfort of there homes. The best place for a workout.

“Like many of my fellow Ballet Beautiful lovers, I too, found Ballet Beautiful totally by mistake. About 7 years ago, I fell off my StairMaster in the basement and broke my ankle and was unable to put weight on the foot for many weeks. Because it was not an option not exercise at all, I researched the internet and found some videos of Mary Helen’s brilliant program–I could do many of the mat exercises without putting weight my foot and was so pleasantly surprised to see, and FEEL, a difference in just a couple weeks. I then signed onto the full program and have been doing it religiously 5 times a week for all these years. While I will never have a “true ballet body”, my entire physique has changed over this time. I now have lean, long and ballet muscular legs and an upper body strength I NEVER had before. I am an artistic person ( classical musician) , so I appreciate how Mary Helen creates a calm and serene background with not only music, but a beautiful color palette of flowers, tutus and mats. In addition, I have many leotards but especially love the long sleeved sweetheart ones as I wear them in the winter to layer up in the cold weather. They are thin so they don’t add bulk, but keep one person very warm. In closing, I would like to say that I have never seen better service in a Customer Service in a company–EVER! I have followed Mary Helen’s custom workouts for several years and they remain my workout of choice for so many reasons! “I‘m from Germany (sorry about my not so perfect English ????) and I found Ballet Beautiful accidentally on YouTube at the Beginning of the Pandemic in 2020. I started with Ballet Classes when I was 7 Years old and now as an 44 Years old Person. I‘m still doing it from the bottom of my heart. The Ballet Studio where I train 3-4 Times a week had to close during that bad time and so I was looking for something I could do at home as a change. I tried many different things but honestly I didn‘t like it and I did it just to do something. One Day I found Mary Helen with Ballet Beautiful and I was so incredible happy! It was exactly the thing I was looking for! First I bought every DVD that I could get Online in Germany and then quickly I decided to become am member. And what can I say, I am still and I remain! “Some background information about me. I am in my mid 40’s. Keeping my body buff and trim requires a lot of effort; but here comes the BB workout in! I have used the same workouts over the last weeks. I worked out with Booty Lift Bridge, Inner Thigh Strengthener, Outer Thigh Lengthener, Abs from the Classic DVD, Swan Arms from the Blast DVD; alternating with these two DVDs which I believe are magic.
The three new streaming videos I have been following during December, 4 to 5 days a week, did an awesome job in changing the appearance of my inner and outer thighs. This is terrific! I rely on mat workouts the most for toning. Also, I feel fantastic after working out and my flexibility improves significantly!

“I discovered Ballet Beautiful on YouTube in 2013. I was initially skeptical because the workout looked so simple, but boy was I wrong! I decided to purchase the Total Body Workout DVD and a few years later I’m a loyal custom workout subscriber. I’ve tried many workouts in the past, but they all bulk me up in the legs and biceps. Ballet Beautiful is the only workout that gives me a lean, feminine look. I feel stronger than ever before and my posture has improved. More importantly, my mental health has improved tremendously as a result of being able to stick to the workouts and do it regularly.
I was lucky to have discovered Ballet Beautiful long before I had my first child. “Intense BUT doable workouts. Even as a beginner, even when I am sick, I could push trough. The music and way of working out is like a meditation for me. I find that unlike most workouts online, this is the only way to not trigger my anxiety and add to the everyday stress. “If you grew up dancing, like I did, this is a great way to bring ballet back into your life! You can enjoy more dance-focused or fitness-oriented workouts, depending on what you need that day. Videos are about five to twenty minutes long and you can either customize a playlist or follow along with the monthly challenge playlist (like I’ve been doing.) The results are instantaneous, and BB definitely gives you an authentic “dancer” look – toned but not bulky, with lean limbs. Great for building muscular strength, endurance, agility and flexibility. Love the storybook-ballet workouts; really fun and a little nostalgic. I danced classical so not as familiar with Balanchine but appreciate the introductions to the neoclassical style.”

“I have tried BB 10 years ago when it started and only offered (for a basic price) the Streaming Library but I did not do more than 3 videos, with a hard job and no time. Now it has been great to do 5 videos each time and also keep the challenges for the first years level. Fully recommend it, I have lost weight on my core and arms which was amazingly difficult to do with any other exercise, yoga or cardio. And I do plenty of sports and keep a thin figure.
